Mouse controls and plans for the future
Before anything else, I want to thank everybody who played and commented on the game during the GMTK game jam. Has I am writing this, the results are not out yet but you all made me want to keep working on Weird Wires and make it the best game it can be.
Mouse controls
After the submission of the game, all the comments where pretty much the same. The art and sounds are good, the levels where fun... but the controls where unintuitive and frustrating. Now that the jam is finished, I've quickly released a new version with mouse controls. I'll try to make even better controls has I work on the game but at least their is something better the using WASD on an isometric grid...
I wasn't sure about the best way to control the robots at the beginning of the jam so I just used the first thing that came to my mind and kind of forgot it as I got used to it. Next time, I'll try to remember the importance of a good control scheme. Frustrating controls can really cloud everything else in a game and I feel like it will affect the "fun" score of the game for the jam.
Plans for the future
I plan to continue the game, but it might take some time because boring real life stuff will keep me occupied until July and I need to unspaghettify the code before I add any new feature. We already have a list of new mechanics to add and sketches of a few levels. I also want to make the game more accessible for colorblind people, make new music, proper UI and just create a more polish experience in general.
I hope you are has excited has I am to see this game become a "real" game. And I hope to see you soon when I release the full game!
